Xplorer² lite is a tabbed dual-pane file manager that maintains the familiar look and feel of the standard windows explorer while offering tons of advanced features. Unlike most alternative file managers that seem to require a PhD in computer science to figure them out, xplorer² offers a clean and shell integrated extension model for productive everyday file management.
If you know how to use windows explorer you'll feel immediately at home; yet xplorer² can take you places you've never been before — not with explorer anyway!

The Explorer² Lite program gives you the necessary tools for managing your files. The software is a desktop browsing and file management application that is kept simple. Just because it is not extravagantly designed, it does not mean that you will be missing any of the important basic features.
With this program you can add comments to the file system information and determine what individual folder settings you want. You can also search through office and PDF documents and look for certain texts using the filters. Another feature is the all-area shell namespace access and the shell also supports drag and drop functions, as well as context menus and multi-window operation. There is also the folder tree and any changes in the folders will automatically be picked up. The path will also be finished with the autocompletion feature.
Graphics are displayed in a thumbnail view mode and HTML can be previewed. You can see a lot at once because the thumbnails are mini in size and densely packed together. The toolbar can be customized by the user. The system icons can also be customized and given skins or overlays. Icons can be displayed in groups for an easier viewing. |

What's new in version 1.8
- slow startup on account of digital signature check eliminated
- Folder deletion from the tree got easier, now you don't have to activate the confusing 'Don't lock browsed folder' advanced option.
- updated lists of recognized audio/video formats for WMP
- Hide protected operating system files policy from Folder Options (Control panel) is observed, unless you use the registry tweak
- fast and sleek thumbnails for windows vista/7 using shell icon cache
- better appearence for windows vista/7 menu icons
- paste text and images in folder now creates unique names
- various small bugfixes |
